How do you figure you never get below 5k at WOT? I mean I guess if you are dumping it at 6k and its able to keep from bogging it MAY be able to stay above 4500 but.... If its a street car and you are launching like you would launch a street car or don't have a 12 bolt, you are well below 5k. Not to mention if you are running someone from a roll on the street, what are you going to start out at 40 mph in 1st so you can start from 5k rpms?
My car makes 300 ft lbs at 3100 rpms which isn't TOO bad but.... I get KILLED on the street from a slow roll, even with 4.10s. My buddy's stock 02 ZO6 will destroy me from a roll if he hooks up, hell even if he is spinning he will stay right beside me. Matter in fact, he can start out in 2nd, me in 1st and from a 20 roll, he can pull away from me. I can not stop the pull until I am well into 3rd.
These cars are just too heavy to not have any bottom end. I have not tried to race him since my MTI tune went in last month, I was racing him on a shitty G-Force, ****-job tune but it still made similar power so the results would have been the same. Now he is procharged and makes 604 rwhp.
Like I said, if you want dyno #s, get one of these new big *** cams, if you want to win races on the street, get something smaller.

Stangkilr, you are right about the 4.10s, my car was horrible to drive at slow speeds with the 3.42s. it would buck and surge anywhere below 2k. After the 4.10 install, it was MUCH more driveable. It is still weak below 4k compared to a stock one.
You are running 11.60s@122 so you obviously know what you are doing, I would love to have my car running that well. Your setup must be dead on and your rpms hang at 5k + on the launch...
My car ran 12.90s with a lid and borla, I called TSP and told them what I wanted to do with the car and how it would be used. They recommended the MS3 to me and I bought everything from them. I had G-Force install all the parts and tune it. It made 399 rwhp and I thought for sure it was gonna run good numbers and it did not. It went 12.70s@113 with the stock 3.42s. So I thought for sure its the gearing killing it, I had 4.10s installed and went back to the track on Nitto DRs, 3500-4000rpms slide out type launches...12.70s. I parked the car for almost a year I was so pissed off. Finally I needed some diagnostic work done because it was running like total ****. I took it to MTI, they found a bunch of stuff G-Forced did wrong on the fuel pump install and tuning. Jason fixed everything and we dynoed 395rwhp with it. I have yet to run it again as I KNOW the 10bolt is on its last leg. I just think that with a street setup and my low(relatively) rpm launch technique, a small cam or even the stock cam with all my bolt ons would be running quicker then I am now. I guess my next mod will be a 12 bolt w/ 4.10s. THen I will dump the bitch from 5k and if it doesn't 330' then, I will pull this cam out go back with something smaller. One step forward, two steps back...

I have been most impressed with the results from the g5x3 over the ms3. If I had a choice thats the route id go. FM13 is a prove performer as is the fm14 and tourquer v3, but they might not hit the numbers the g5x3 will. As for the ms4 im not sure how much (or if it is bigger) than the g5x3 but you could always go with the g5x4 if your looking for that big of a cam. I have been in a g5x3 powered car and with the right tune it will idle fairly well for a large and it sounds plain mean. It will def be the cam going into my next build.

Why do people on here act like it has to be super huge or a 224? What about the middle ground?
There is a lot more that goes into picking out a cam than seeing what someone else's combo did on the dyno or at the track. I would talk to one of the cam experts so they can tell you what YOU want for YOUR application.

Just remember to get a cam that's making good power on dynos other than those in the shop that sells them. Some of you will get what I'm saying.
I have to say I've seen the Futral cams and the LG cams make good power in lots of setups. They're very consistent.

what kind of numbers do you want to put down? I have a small 224/228 581/588 110 lsa cam with ported 241 heads with every bolt on you can think of with a Denny's nitrous ready driveshaft, 12bolt rear and 4.30 gears and I put down 452rwhp and 408 rwtq.My car sounds almost stock at idel and has great power down low and up top A stock rear and gears would shoot my rwhp and rwtq numbers way up. A well matched combo will make more power than just the biggest cam.

Not to beat a dead horse, but I can speak from my experience. I had the 224/228 581 112+2 Comp XER cam, patriots springs, LS6, Jethot lts', ORY, Borla, 10 bolt with 4.10's, pulley, Shaner TB, LS1 edit tune, poly driver side mount, 1LE trans mount, Hyperco roadrace springs- and I ran 12.05@118.2 and 12.08@119.3. Full weight ttop Z28 6 speed, factory stock suspension, launching (if you want to call it that) at 3000-3200 r's. Had that car had a 12 bolt or 9", I would have been all down in the 11's. So don't think you can only run 11's or better with a big cam. Mine was my daily driver, to the tune of 250 or more miles every week. I can only imagine that car with a Fast 90/90, rear end, and suspension work as I ran 1.93 60 ft on my low et.
