Most of the cams from the vendors are comps... They just order them with their custom grind....

Yes,but I was wondering why he bought a cam straight from Comp Cams instead of one from Thunder Racing custom cams.I know they are roughly the same price. Is there really any advantage to Thunder Racing's grinds? It is just a tough choice with all the cams out there by Crane,Comp, and the custom grinds by TR and TSP.All of them have a cam for every purpose and performance that to a point it gets confusing what cam would benefit your engine the most.I mean it is your $380 plus you are paying,so you want the best.

Louie83 May 3, 2007 10:06 PM

My cam was bought through Thunder.

In fact, it is a custom grind designed by Patrick G for me.

Rod bolts.

My engine is a 99, updated rod bolts did not come stock until 2001. So basically it was the weakest point in my bottom end, and now I will be able to spin it higher.

bjamick May 4, 2007 09:30 AM

Unless your gunna be turning right a 7000 which im not sure even if your cam will spin that high you really didnt need the rod bolts. But i guess thats cool that you got them anyways i guess.

zach11 May 4, 2007 09:34 AM

where did you get your flowmasters from?

Louie83 May 4, 2007 09:38 AM

bj - One of the criteria I gave Patrick when he specced the cam was that it made power up high.

zach - None of the sponsors seemed to carry them, so I had to order from Summit. That's about the only thing in the pictures not ordered from sponsors. :jest:

Nice!! I'm gathering parts right now for my Patrick G cam install as well. When are you going to start the install?

GR33N GoblinM6 May 4, 2007 09:55 AM

some one either spent their tax return or just went into debt on their credit card with all those parts...

PREDATOR-Z May 4, 2007 11:00 AM
