6-speeds are fun, my LT-1 had one. I like drag racing autos more. More consistent. The 4L60's have some problems I know, but I think I covered most of those bases for a mid to high 11 car. Its when I go for low 10's that I will be worried.

Nice write! I do not blame you one bit for dropping the motor to do all these mods.. I would do the same thing.. Do you have a lift in your garage?

Default 2000 Camaro SS reassembly

Well 2 months later and its finally back in the car.....
Had to order a few odds and ends, wait for some more money and tore apart the rest of the car to do the fuel pump, rear end, and some of the chassis upgrades. Still have quite a bit to go but hope to have it up and going and tuned by the end of August and would like to drive it to the LSx shootout in Memphis to enjoy the show.

Here are some more pics I snapped along the way.

Default 2000 Camaro SS reassembly

Got a few more things installed tonight. Pulled the gas tank out, installed the double pumper (fuel for the future Procharged 403, plan to run just one pump now), cut the access panel in case a pump goes south. Reinstalled tank.
Got the 9" housing up in the car trying to sort through how to best mount the E-brake cable holders and brake line bracket.

Hindsight, should have done this before painting the housing....

A few more pics.

awesome pics and write up. I'm seriously debating on doing the access panel like you did, I seem to have bad luck with fuel pumps these days...I never thought to cut an access hole. That will make future changes mucho easier.

Just be sure to follow the writeups and cut away from where the fuel lines are, or drop out the tank like helicoil did.

I haven't seen any write-up regarding this. I think I will need to drop the tank in the near future to, you guessed it, swap the fuel pump...but is there a way to cut the access hole in the car safely? I don't mean to hijack, lol.

Cut the access panel on my 02. Its a few inches south of where the lt1 cars are. Only takes about 5 minutes to cut the panel

Default 2000 Camaro SS reassembly

Accomplished a few more things this weekend. Cut and widened the E-brake brackets to fit the wider UMI LCA mounts/Moser housing. Fabbed up a rear brake line mount to the Moser housing. Ran the Pro Classic Earl's fuel lines, mounted the Aeromotive fuel filter, ran the Lonnies/Racetronix wiring harness, tacked in the BMR SFC's, installed the BMR adjustable LCA's and chrome moly torque arm. Assembled the Moser 9" and found out I lost a E-brake adjuster somwewhere (can't sem to find it, must of fell out when pressing the axle bearings at the shop somewhere). Trying to find one is a b**ch. Dealer wants to sell a complete backing plate. Anybody have a backingplate they would like to sell, complete with E-brake?

Default 2000 Camaro SS reassembly

Also got to install the TCI trans cooler and Pro Classic -6 AN tranny cooler lines. Found a nice spot to properly mount the cooler up in front also.

I inlcuded some of the BMR SFC prep and fitment pictures. They install really nice. I tacked them in place in front and bolted the into the rear temporarly until I can get it on a drive on rack to cut them loose and FULLY weld them in place. I had to mount the fuel lines to the driver side one, so it had to be there now.

Default 2000 Camaro SS reassembly

Here are some of the tranny cooler pictures. I am bypassing the radiator cooler and running this by itself so that the eng temperature won't affect the trans fluid. It is in front of the A/C condenser and spaced about 1 1/2" from it to still get good airflow driving down the road and from the electric fans.

I used some reflective heat wrap on the trans lines near the headers like I did on the fuel supply and return lines on the driver's side where it gets closer to the header before going underneath the factory heat shield.

BTW, maybe I missed it, but what cam are you running? and did you have to flycut? I see the clay and dial indicator testing pics, but no flycut. what clearance's did you have? just curious.
