Default ported 241's

need some suggestions

I have been looking at buying a tr224 cam package from thunder racing and doing cam only but I have come across I think a good deal on some stock ported 241's w/ PRC dual springs. Would these give me much gain over my stock heads with the tr224? I wasn't planning on doing heads but I cam across these and am thinking about going heads and cam if these would give me decent amount of more power.

Are they worth it?

also is $275 a good deal on the heads w/ 1500 miles after the porting?

edit: if I went with these would they change driveability much over going cam only?

ive got P&P & I think milled ls1 heads but havent got my motor/tranny done so I can't tell you. however I will subscribe to this to find out its worth. I got mine as a complete motor, and has a 224/228 114lsa cam in it with 32k miles and make 411rwhp through an M6 if that helps you any though.

bump.

what would be the advantage of just porting my 853 castings? would it add much more power over just cam only.

As they are they may add a few HP (10~15) but I would look at the chamber volume and get them milled if they haven't been already. This would bump the compression and give you a few extra ponies.

you can get those or hold up alittle more and get some more $$$. Now adays you can find 243's or even TSP heads at good prices.

EDIT: I just re-read.

Yes, ported heads are worth a LOT of power over unported heads. Even if theyre not the sought after 243 heads or aftermarket castings.

You can easily gain 25 or 30 HP out of ported 241 casting heads. And 275 is a great price, depending on who did the work.
