LS1 to an LS6?
Im workin on a deal right now that is lookin to bring me a set of stock heads with a stock cam from an 02 ZO6 at a hell of a price.....now I have an 02 WS6 with a LS6 block....I know that the major differences are the heads, cam and intake.....What else do I need to make this work?? Thanks in advance.

Nothing else. I have an 01 Z28 and installed the GM LS6 heads and cam. You only need new bolts and gaskets. You can go with an LS6 MAF but I haven't heard of a benefit from that; mine seems to be fine with the LS1 MAF.

I have an 02 camaro with the LS6 block as well. So all you have to do is change the cam and heads (the 243's?) and I'll have the rated 405 HP of the 02 Z06?
What about injectors and tuning?
Whats the difference between the 241 heads and the 243's?

You won't have the 406 hp that the corvette gets because of exhaust and intake differences. Most people agree that a tuned LS6 conversion on the fbody nets about 365 hp to the wheels with a commensurate increase in torque.
The #243 heads have a slightly smaller combustion chamber, the injector ports are placed differently and simply flow better because of the deeper and wider passages past the ports. I say this because I was able to sink my combined fingers deeper into the the intake ports with the LS6 heads. Visually I could not tell a difference from my #241s. With the LS1 vs LS6 cam there seems to be a tiny visual difference in the lobes as they don't seem to come to an apex quite so soon but that could just be my imagination. I think the LS6 does have greater lift and the LS6 valve-train is designed for a little higher rpm.

don't stop there, clean up those heads with a couple hours of grinding time. swap out the cam with a under-.550 lift cam (LS6 srings are limiting factor). and increase the fun around 20-30 hp !!

I thought the 02s had the LS6 intake on them?

Not to turn this thread in a different direction, but if your going to do all that work, why don't you get a small 224/224 cam and make more power than the tiny LS6 cam. ::shrug::

anything below around 227 deg duration is easily streetable.
anything below around 214 does not necessitate tuning. just put it in.
springs are needed for more than 540 lift, pushrods are needed before the car rolled off the dealership lot. combos sell for around 600, not including gaskets and seals.
read up before you put that ls6 cam in, you will be glad you did!

If you stay with the GM LS6 kit you will not need to buy headers. I am very happy with my 45 - 55 hp increase and I have e-check here. The oem LS1 exhaust manifold is a very efficient exhaust. So much that mid length pipes add nothing. The engine idles just like it did before the swap. My drive train is totally up to the modest power increase but believe me when I tell you that there is a noticeable increase. Fuel economy hasn't changed one whit either. I don't regret for a minute that I ignored all the advice to go with a big cam etc.. To each his own though.

Oh my first mods to my baby are gonna be headers chop the cats and a good exhaust as well as a new lid and throttlebody......just i came accross these heads that a local guy pulled of his z06 at from what i can see is a pretty fair price.....and said he would throw in the cam for an extra 150....so I figured that I would start my research now and try to gather everything up.
