i can truely say ive done it alot when it was my DD . though i have only done it about 5 times since the new cam and tune since tuesday.. it runs strong .
now i do believe that with stock lifters .. its a nono to spin past 6700 i have reason to believe thats what caused one of my lifter failures.
oh and with 100,000 miles . it was time for a new set of lifters anyway! and timing set, the stock one was worn to poop!

there is a guy on here I think his user name is 98mysticz. He put in a ms3 in his stock bottom 98 and it did not last long spinning that high. I have a 98 H/C/I and I put in katechs this summer just to be safe

I spin mine to 6500rpm a lot, I've got over 100+passes at the track this year and bounced off my 6500rpm rev limiter a few times playing on the highway.
Results with 98 cars may vary though. Just don't spend any more time up there than you need to, I tend to shift at 6400rpm on track and a few times going off a freeway on ramp heh, trying to redline first is an effort in traction futility. Doing it in second will break speed limits.... ughhh need gears now.

on stock 98's just keep it below 6500k if you an help it...if you want to take the best possilbe advantage of your cam, then get some desent bolts and call it a day, otherwise, don't temp the fates. i don't know if you've ever seen an ls1 throw a piston, but it'll cost one hell of a alot more to fix then a set of good rod bolts will.
