Default GM HOT CAM

What kind of #'s are people seeing with this cam? What can I expect with FLP's, ASP pulley, Borla cat back, air lid, Yank ST3500?

This was my first cam. With StageI heads from West Coast Cylinder Heads and an LS6 intake I put down 410 RWHP and 390 RWT - long ago sold the engine but it was remarkable for such a small investment.

its not a bad "kit cam" (springs, cam, retainers) for the price ($350 I think) but there are a lot "stronger" cams out there that will idle just as nasty (nasty is good in my book) and make a good bit more power.

I hit 380rwhp in 100 degree weather. That is NOT will all the bolt-ons either. I have a '00 car and do NOT have the LS6 intake, do not have a pulley, do not have a filter. All I have is headers, exhaust, S2 TB, lid, and hotcam. I am installing an LS6 intake tomorrow, that should help out a lot.

The benefits of the hot cam is less stress on the valvetrain. I went with the GM ASA cam for that reason. Sure I could have made 10 more hp with a higher lift, but with my cam I dont have to worry about changing springs every two years.

Wen I had my heads done (and went with my TR224), I had the valve seat cut for a Comp 987 duel (inner AND outer with dampener) spring. I won't need to replace those in two years (I did it right the first time and don't ever have to worry about it again) .

My Hotcam experience is a s follows: Stock with 4.10's/LM & SLP Maf 13.40 at 107.23 in Sept. of 02 in 93 deg. heat. With Hotcam/Predator tuning & gutted cats 12.80 @ 111.74 in guess what 93 deg. heat. I only made 3 passes but there is no doubt the HC helped with the mph. I know I won't be running with the big dogs with this cam but with a 150 wet shot and long tubes it will be a quick street car if you catch my drift.

You know it Ryan! After seeing how awesome your car is coming along I am trying to take a few short cuts for at least low 12's maybe (gasp) high 11's on street tires. Did you get your clutch/trans prob straitend out? For those of you reading this this guy (Ryan aka LOnSLO)is a hard core racer, pulling a trans in the grass on a hot as h*ll day. Hope you got it fixed cheap. Ken
