Default gas mileage with new cam??

i want to put a new cam in my 01 ss m6 but im kinda worried about the gas prices on the rise and how a cam will affect my allready horrible gas milage. i usually get about 200 miles per tank with all city driving (no hard driving, but not driving miss daisy). my goal is around 400 rwhp and 400 rwtq (cam only)with an emphisys on streetability. what kind of gas milage can i expect with an cam that will come close to my power goal, and what cam do you all reccomend?

man, that sucks. I still get about 220-240 per tank with an ms4 cam... bout 16mpg average, and that is gettin on it occasionally. Pre cam it got about 300 per tank. So i can't help you cause i still get better milage than you. I never drive mine so it really don't hurt me none. Thats why you buy a civic 35mpg ***!

with a poor part throttle tune, my "city" driving.....more like small town...not like NYC...i think i average about 18-19mpg with my cam.

i think i would probably pick up 1 ro 2 mpg with a better part throttle.

and i'm right around 400rwhp now.

on the highway...with the windows down and TTops off cruising about 80mph...i get 25-26mpg. again a part throttle tune would help that.

considering most cam guys are getting better mileage than i am, i think there seems to be a problem with my present tune/emmisions setup. why stop at bolt ons when fixing whatever alement i have now and adding a cam can net me better mileage and more power?

Cams decrease fuel mileage. Plain and simple. If you want gas mileage don't do a cam. If you've got a different problem then that's totally different.
You could fix that and be and Prius and Civic territorry. How's that sound? Hell you could get some thicker head gaskets so you could 87 octane. That would be awesome huh?

my thanks to everyone who shared GOOD information that will ultimatly help me in choosing a cam, to all who only had stupid little comments like "gas mileage, not with an ls1" or anything having to do with a prius or civic,, well, nevermind.
