Do you think I'll have PTV issues?

I just ordered a set of Patriot LS6 style heads, 035 castings (not 243's) w/ 64cc chambers and 2.02/1.57 valves along with their new 225/229 .580/.590 114 cam. In addition, I've got 1.75 ratio rockers on there which will bring the lift #'s to .597/.607. I didn't think to ask while I had them on the phone, but do you think I'll have PTV issues? I'll probably check anyway, but I'm just curious if I should start to prepare myself for some fly cutting. Any opinions would be appreciated!

Just check it

fast01 Dec 21, 2007 11:09 PM

I'm certainly going to! I just wanted to see if I should plan for the worst case scenerio....flycut.

I would be shocked if that didn't clear.
You should have plenty of clearence.
Lift is very mininum of P/V clearence.
This is something many people dont realize.
In fact I would get yourself a set of .040 gaskets with that combo and get the Compression up a bit more.
Patriot welds the chamber's to get them to 64 instead of milling them which is great for added clearence.
Have fun with the new power.

it will clear-but always check even if u or anyone thinks or say's it will clear-

JPH Dec 22, 2007 09:22 AM

it will clear fine.

I would call Gunnar at Patriot

Asmodeus Dec 22, 2007 12:09 PM

it will clear if installed properly

Thanks for the replys everyone! I absolutely plan on checking anyway, but I just wanted to see what your opinions were (the experts:)). As far as the head gasket goes, Patriot suggested using a '99-'01 head gasket set to bump the compression to 10.7:1. Have a happy, safe holiday season!

Patriot no longer welds the chambers; milling is now the route that's taken to alter chamber volumes.

Duration and the intake valve opening & exhaust valve closing points determine PTV clearance. The lift has little to do with it, as the valves are barely off the seats at TDC.

I understand that the valve events have more to do with PTV clearance than lift does, I should have worded my question different and left out the 1.75:1 thing. I do appreciate the responses though! That's one thing this board is good for, honest, knowledgeable replys. As far as Patriot welding the chambers, it's true that they don't do it anymore. I spoke with them a few days ago and they said they only use the 243 castings now that don't require welding. I ordered the heads from one of their dealers, not from them. The dealer had a few sets of the old 035's (that are welded) on the shelf they were looking to clear out. I couldn't pass up the deal!

P.S.
Please don't ask me where I got them as they are not a sponsor and I don't want to break the rules. Thanks!

I honestly didn't know that as we haven't done any 6.0 heads in a long time from Patriot. If anything we suggest the 243 castings. I learn something new everyday. Thanks for shareing that info.
Edit... Looks like these were the welded castings that are older and on the shelf somewhere.
