Default Does $1200 sound about right for rods & pistons

I'm in the middle of a H/C bottom end build that will be good for 250-300 nitrous later down the road. I talked to Matt at TSP and he said that I should go with Diamond pistons with -2cc reliefs and Scat rods and just use my Katech rod bolts. Price on the pistons were about $850 but that came with rings that I'll need to use with nitrous, I believe he said they were plasma. He said not to go with Mahle because it's a softer piston and that the Diamonds were the way to go. Anyways, he said that they total would be around $1250. Does this sound about right to you guys? He said the Diamond pistons were holding up in a shop car that was twin turbo making 1200rwhp on a mustang dyno so I'm pretty sure they are good pistons. Just wanted to get some opinions before I bought them.

Thanks!

Those must be the new "off the shelf" Scat rods. I don't know too much about them but if they are that price and hold up, that seems like a hell of a deal. A decent set of billet rods alone are 1200-1400.

That's what it was, I knew there was a steel top ring I just thought you called it by a different name. Sorry. Anyways, you'll be hearing from me soon, I'll probably go ahead with those pistons and rods.

Thanks!

I got my diamond nitrous pistons w/ -2cc reliefs for $675 shipped from Diamond. I used Eagle forged h-beam rods also came w/ wrist pins and "ARP 2000" bolts for $460 shipped. I would go w/ hell fire rings if your gonna spray it.

This setup is a Total Seal ring set with the steel top ring similar to the Hellfires, just packaged together since Diamond gets us great deals on the ring sets and we are able that way to pass some savings onto our customers

Looks like youre payiong a little extra for premium parts. The price hike is to be expected. Thats a pretty big shot youll be spraying.

$800 for Diamond pistons and a steel top ring set (similar to Hellfires) is paying extra?? Have you priced this setup lately?

Hey Matt, I found a place down here that does balancing. $200 just like you said. So as soon as I get the rods and pistons I'll be taking everything out to him and having it balanced. As you said, it's very cheap insurance.

And Guitsboy, I thought the same thing at first. I thought the price was really high, so I decided to look around and it turns out that it's actually a pretty decent price for what you're getting.

I meant he was paying more BECAUSE he was getting premium parts as opposed to run of the mill parts. not the he was OVERPAYING for them. Sorry for the confusion.
