Default TSP 228R & comp 918 springs

I'm probably going with the TSP 228R cam on a 111 lsa. I'd like to use the comp 918 springs & was wondering if:

A. Would they be enough spring for this cam? (any reason the stock locks & retainers aren't good enough?)

B. Any updates on the quality of those springs? I know a year or 2 ago people were having problems with them.

C. What other spring options would you recommend (pac etc.?)

They just redesined these not to long ago and there supposed to be good up to .650 I think. The issues the had are supposed to be fixed also.

I have been running them for about 15k miles over the last 3 years with stock retainers and shift @ 6700 rpm. Not a single problem so far!

Thanks guys.

LPTXZ28, how do you like that cam? Performance & streetability? What LSA is it on? Also, what times are you turning in the 1/8th? My wife will be driving this car a lot during the week & I'm struggling with making it what I want it to be or keeping her happy. I'm just not sure how far I can go & not have her be unhappy with driving it.

go with the PRC double spring kit from TSP...they work great and are good for .660 lift... don't use the 918's...they're advertised at .600 max for a reason... that cam has .588 lift...too close for comfort...the PRC kit comes with ti-retainers, new seals, and seats all for under $300..thats a good deal

Good performance all around mine is on a 112 and i used to daily drive it when it was M6 50 miles roundtrip. My wife also drove this car but only about 15 miles roundtrip daily for 6 mos. She didn't like the smell of fuel from running no cats but never complained about the cam. The last time my car was on a dyno with it put down 362rwhp through a 12 bolt with 4.11's and M6 Stock ls1 intake, pulley, basically cam and exhaust only. HP seemed low on dyno but car ran 11.9X all day long. Just get a good tune so she can run the a/c and not have idle issues and i don't see a problem.

I still have NO idea why anyone would ever buy those springs (918's)...

There are MANY other options that are just as good if not better and for similar prices, so why buy the springs that have had multiple problems in the past? Yeah, they're "fixed" ... supposedly. I wouldnt trust em , ever

PAC-1218 will work. I believe Comp has been out of its new re-designed 918 for while now.

Comp's been shipping the new springs. We have them in stock, as well as the PAC's for anyone looking!
