Default time to upgrade. cam head recommendations

Hey guys, well i want to give my ws6 some more power now. I dont know the best route i should go? I dont want to dump a ton of money into it, probably 1500-2000 or so...

I definately want a cam. Something that will give me good power gains but not something im going to have the be changing springs every year. Im thinking something 220 -224 in the .550 lift range. Are stock 243's going to be worth installing or should i not bother...

Heres what im thinking so far...

ls6 heads ~$500
ls6 intake ~$300
220-224 cam in the .550 range to not kill springs. been thinking hot cam too, i know its not the biggest but dont diss it. ~$550 with springs
possibly headers?? ~$500

Looking for a fun streetable 380-400 at the wheels...

I have an a4 so ive been thinking about a stall converter too ~$600

if you do get a cam, don't forget all the complimentary components you will need to enhance it. Headers, lid, aftermarket exhaust are a must so you don't choke the cam. A larger cam means the engine needs more air, therefore you need to get rid of the more air more efficiantly as well. A set of rear-end gears may also be needed to get the most out of the cam as well.

A Tsp 224 or 228 cam is an awesome cam for a daily driver and delivers a good powerband.

Check out some of the Vinci grinds. I think you'll find what you're looking for there. LS6 heads are good but you'll do better if you can get your stock ones ported by someone who knows what they are doing.

If you want around 550 lift I would look into the TR 230 or the TR224.

With your budget I would call around to a few sponsors and get them to price you a package with in your range. This would be your best bet.
