Need help quick. ??? on removing pully.
 

I am istalling my hotcam today and I cant get the crank pully off. I remove the bolt put it in about half way. Then I broke 2 3-arm pullers. WTF some advise would be nice.

You can't pull the pulley all the way off with the bolt half way in. You are just going to break metal that way.

Is the pulley up against the bolt about the time the tool breaks? You gotta back out the bolt after you pull the pulley off half way!

bolt is not close to the pulley. I have over a half inch gap between the two. The pulley still wont budge. I just go a bigger puller. any more ideas?

Hrm, other than a bigger puller, thats all I can think of. Its the stock pulley right? You are pulling from the 3 tabs on the inside diameter?

The stock pulley can be a bitch to pull of sometimes, thats for sure.

yes. Im pulling it from the 3 tabs on the inside but one broke. This is a bitch. Been working on if for 4 hours.

I broke a pile of Oreily pullers a long time ago and then went and got a craftsman. That one lasted much longer! I am now using a Snap On, but most people don't want to buy that...
PS I would try taking the bolt out and using a socket or a spacer to put over the crank snout. Then just pull it out like you are trying...

If you broke the tab off you might need a new pulley. I used the 40.00 NAPA puller and it worked great.

Get a quality puller not the $30 junk from Autozone. Also, do not use the bolt with the puller because it will slide off the head and try to pull crooked, it needs to come straight off. Sears does have a good 3-jaw puller that comes with a small button that fits on the crank snout to keep from damaging it. The button also has a recess that the puller fits into to keep things straight. I pulled mine off in about 5 minutes. It definitely pays to have quality tools.
