Default NEED HELP! heads intake runner scratch affect anything?

so im looking to get some heads and i found a good deal on some afr 205's, but he told me there is a scratch on the intake runner. the outside of it is what he said. idk how big as i didnt think to ask. would/could this potentially damage my car in any way? or affect performance in any way? but like he said it is on the outside. he had them installed on his car for a couple thousand miles. im now having second thoughts as these are a lot of money and id prefer not to throw money away. any input would help, thanks.

ask for a picture. Then post a picture so we can see exactly whats wrong. I dont see a "scratch" harming anything but who knows how bad it is.

machined out? sounds like a gouge not a scratch.. whats the price on them? Intake runners arent baby skin smooth anyway

I believe that this pic is of the heads in question. $1300 for them is a good deal for sure. The scratches dont look to bad, probably could be smoothed out and the o ring gaskets should seal fine.

tHE LITTLE SCRATCHES ARE NO ISSUE. yOU WOULD NEED TO MAKE SURE THAT THAT GOUGE FROM THE CUTTING TOOL DOESNT INTERFERE WITH THE INTAKE SEAL.

Oops..sorry for caps.

actually yes it is those heads. but yall dont think that that would or could ptentially affect anything. if i see any more scratches ill take pics of them and let him know i need a few more hours. how much do you think it would cost to get machined back to perfect?

oh and i pmed patrick g and this is what he said "If the scratch is in side of the chamber or port, you're probably OK. If it's on a machine gasket surface, that's bad." unfortunatly idk what the machine gasket surface is. would that be it?

The intake sits against it and is sealed with an o-ring. If that scratch is so deep the o-ring cant seal its not good is what Patrick is saying or he's talking about the bottom part of the heads where the headgasket seals.

From the pics i would honestly say your fine, the 2 larger indentations are realy close to the intake runner, if you look at the o rings from the intake, they are slightly back a little, i dont think all those little scratches would be a problem.

Actually looking at the pics again if you look closely you can see where the o ring gasket is and that it is just outside the deep marks. You will be fine, i guess you could always add a tiny bit of sealer as well.

i noticed that as well. im still just a little hesitant... i do not want to be ripped off.

ok but now, worse case scenario... say i buy em and put em on and it IS bad. how would it affect my car performance/reliability wise? what problems would be caused? and would they basically be unsavable and useless or can this be fixed?

also im not sure if yall noticed but there is a gouge directly across for the one below it. like up top. going into the oring seal. but still not past it. would the fix be to basically get some "weld" or metal filling to fill the little gouges?

The only problem that could happen if the o rings dont seal then there will be vacuum leak. i think some rtv or some sealer and they would seal up fine. If for some reason they dont seal a machine shop could weld a little and re machine that surface. That might cost $150 ish if that
