Default PICS of my engine carnage, good stuff!!!

Ok, got the engine tore down with the exception of the rotating assembly. The shortblock will be pulled tomorow when I go get a engine lift. Two valves hit the piston so those valves are bent and need replacement but the pistons are ok. The extent of piston contact appears to be that the valves just nicked off the carbon coating on the piston tops so the pistons are ok and will be reused, the heads will get a valve job done and probably new springs while im at it. The crank suprisingly looks like it can be resued after going to the machine shop but I picked up a used one anyway and it will get machined along with the block I just bought. The only real damage I could see to the crank is the front main journal has some small scratches and the crank throws have some small scratches.

The carnage to the rest of the front end of the engine is like I have never seen before. The front main cap split in half and the entire driver side of the front of the block was split into pieces as well as the front cover and the oil pump. Pretty nasty. I am clueless as to what caused this excpet I did go to the track a few night before this. Anyway heres the pics.

Yeah its pretty bad but on the upside I can reuse the eagle rods, diamond pistons, head studs, and main studs.

I cant wrap my head around this...Ive seen split blocks, but never with the rotating asym. still intact. This could possibly be the first AL block failure, but I cant even begin to think how things happened.

Car has been sprayed, but wasnt spraying at the time, as a matter of fact I wasnt even driving very hard when it happened.

I like how the main studs and cap are still attached to the piece of block in the last pic, Stupid motor.

Its not worth getting upset over, its just a motor, not too hard to build another one, just costs me some $$ that I didnt plan on spending.
