im new on here but i have been going through the same questions and this is what i have found out; for one i think you will need different headers those will not have enough flow for a set of good heads. Second this is the set up i found would work real good together for an automatic with a 3600 stall and full bolt on, magic stick 3 with 2.5 c and c ported ls6 heads from texas speed but honestly you can ask more people bout this but those header will not work with a good flowing set of heads those heads flow well over 300cfms at 600 lift .

Thats a lot of power for a cam only.

Have a goal and budget. If your goal is 450 rwhp your going to need to upgrade a few things more than just the cam so you need to set a budget and then devise a plan to achieve your goal in steps or if budget permits all at once.

Head selection is done after your budget is set. Better heads are better heads, that never changes. You dont need a big cam to achieve your current goal or 450, just good heads and a medium size cam. AFR's, TFS, Edelbrock, ET's and a 224/228 with LT's and a ported TB, (maybe a 92/92) would put you pretty darn close and be very streetable.

Cnc'ed or hand ported OEM heads would do it as well, how ever you need to be careful in this area. Flow numbers and dyno results can be misleading. (Same for any head)

A custom ground cam is always a better choice as well and with them available for $370 there is no reason to not have one taylored to your needs. We offer custom ground comp cam packages as well carry all of he heads metioned above. You can call me anytime to discuss it or shoot me a pm wiht your number and I'll call you if your interested in my help.

We build combinations to suite individual needs.

You got to factor in other things along with cam swap too. You are gonna need valve springs, hardened pushrods, to be safe, new GM lifters, the cam itself, bearings, etc...it will nickel and dime you...
