Default dart 250cc heads on 408 stroker or AFR 205s on forged 346???

I have a set of dart 250cc heads fully cncd brand new flow 354 @ 600"lift made for a big bore tho. My question is should I sell those and buy the AFR 205's and just forge my LS1 bottom end rather then going with a new block and everything let me know ??? thanks

I am just torn on what to do I got a great deal on the CNC darts and couldnt pass them up but I really want to keep stock displacement to avoid buying all new block and changing camshafts and everything else that goes with a big bore motor

well i would either keep the darts and do a 408 build, or sell the darts get a nice set of heads and keep the stock short block. No point doing all the work to doing a forged block and everything to stay stock displacment.

If you decide to stay with the stock motor and not go with a 408 I am interested in those heads haha. PM me if you are selling them please

Just buy an iron block. The only cost difference between building that and a forged 346 is the block and crank. That's about $1000 in used parts. The power difference between the two will be huge. You'd be kicking yourself in the *** down the line if you build the 346.

only reason for wanting to build up my bottom end is because of those cursed 99 LS1 rod bolts so I will just do rods pistons/rings and a hone with all new bearings keeping the stock crank because i beleive it is good for some power but crank block changing the cam again for a 408 will add up as well I just see great stock cube numbers out of the AFR's thats y i wanted to know

you need a 4.03 bore and 4 inch stroke for a 408. Stock ls1 is a 3.98 bore and a 3.622 stroke.

500+ you need a stroked block for that, so a 402 ls2 or a 408 iron block is what you are looking for.

meh its close, if you have all the tools and knowlege then you can prolly build it cheaper. But i would say your best bet is to get a built short block from eric at HKE.

Sorry to hijack but I have been on Darts website and don't understand why the don't offer cnc'ed 205's but do the 225's and up???? Furthermore I know Bret Bauer works near miracles on the 225's and bigger but why can't they be replicated on the CNC offered heads??? Just wondering cause I would love to have some BB heads but have to go budget as seen in sig not that I am complaining.
