Rev duals vs. 918's.

Anyone know what lift rev duals are good to? And are they better than the 918's for the MTI X1 cam? 230-227, .591-.571. Basically, which springs are the best way to go?

Re: Rev duals vs. 918's.

REV duals art good to .625 and 918's are good to .600. I think you could use either one of those without a problem. The inner spring is just there to keep the valve up if the main spring breaks. Consider it piece of mind. And believe me when I tell you it does its job. :D Saved my ass.

Whether or not one is better than the other, I'm not going to get into. Some like one. Some like the other.

rev duals rawx!! I havem on my H/C X1 and there's actually very little valve train noise also.

Re: Rev duals vs. 918's.

If you are looking at duals check out the new Crane dual. It blows the REVs away. For the record I like the 918 better than the REV. I've never seen a problem with one and they spec out more consistantly.

How about the 26918?

How do they compare to the dual and 918 springs?

They are the 918s (26918).

They are the 918s (26918).

So whats the 26 for? Does that mean it will handle more lift than the 918?

26918 is the part#. They are commonly refered to as 918s.

So anyone know of some springs that will handle .600 lift that beat 918s and the REV's?

Re: Rev duals vs. 918's.

The Crane's are new but intial testing show they are good to almost .650 lift.

Do the vendors carry them yet? Where can I read about them? Part number?

Are these the 1.275 diameter? Do they work with the stock spring pocket?

Thunder Racing - Crane LS1 replacement valvesprings

You are going to need:

40-144832-16 Crane valvesprings
40-144661-16 Crane Ti. retainers
40-144460-16 Crane spring seat/locator
11-VS-UV5001-EO LS1 valve stem seals

I have had excellent results with the 918s in the past and will continue to use them. However, these new Crane duals for the stock spring pocket are another option for those looking for the piece of mind of a double spring. I would run either of these long before the Rev 1116 spring.

Re: Rev duals vs. 918's.

does it matter if they are on stock heads or a larger heavier valve stg2 head

Re: Rev duals vs. 918's.

I haven't heard much from Crane in the LS1 arena. I see they sell some stuff for us.

All I want is a reliable dual-spring to fit the stock pocket which will prevent further engine damage if a spring breaks. Or for somebody to install a 'Change Valvesprings' idiot light in my instrument cluster which illumincates a few thousand miles before one breaks :)

Re: Rev duals vs. 918's.

Went to cranecams.com or whatever their site is, isted under springs way down the page is the new LS1 dual spring.
It does not use a damper, it is stock diamter, has a matching Ti Retainer (no shit). Holds 352lbs open and good for .650" lift, uses stock valve stem locks as well. Not sure what color they are? Anything else, hummmm I believe Thunder has them.

Yep it is Thunder carrying them,

40-144832-16 for the springs $129.99
40-144661-16 for the Ti Ret $179.99

Re: Rev duals vs. 918's.

MTI sells a kit that has springs and retainers...since the x1 is a Lunati Cam, they recommend Manley Springs...I had this same question a couple of weeks ago...the manley springs they offer have a little more strength than 918's and cover the same amount of travel - .600 You wont have any problems with the manley springs they recommend.....although...I do recommend changng the springs after 20000 miles for safety reasons(unless its a track car..then do it every 10000)treat it like a maintenance item.
