LS1 w/ 5.3 heads???

whats the deal with the 5.3 heads??? i hear they flow much better but is it really worth it???

Mark@FuzionAuto 09-23-2008 01:20 AM

so i was off on the better flow, i hear they give higher compression, anyone done this or know about it??

depends what 5.3 heads.. worked or stock??? TSP 2.5 5.3 heads offer flow as good as the LS6 2.5's they have higher compression and the ports are better for vol.. the LS6's are better for more cubic in'

well me and my buddie put a set of 5.3's off a truck on his 00 ss,BUT you must change the intake valve to a 2.00 at least, and get them ported out pretty good to make a difference. when it was all said and done.his car ran pretty good with those heads.a fair amount better than stock i would say. but by the time you spend enough to make them REALLY good you should just get the TSP 5.3 2.5 heads.

TSP 5.3 with the added compression are the best bang for the buck...call TSP, they'll figured it out for ya!! Very friendly to talk to..even if youre not that ready to buy!

Its a smaller chamber head so it adds compression IMO your better off with an LS6 head shaved to your desired compression.

the 5.3 is popular because it raises compression without having to mill them which helps when someone runs to big of a cam for a daily driver. So they slap a set of 5.3's on there and think they've fixed the problem...LOL Its a cheap upgrade as well so that helps with the popularity. I say IMO your better off with a LS6 head or a set of AFR's or TFS or ET or WCCH Edelbrocks.
