Default Whats this seal called/where can I get it?

I was getting ready to put my rear cover on and noticed the cover, and block have a ring like there was an O-ring on the back of the block towards the top. Maybe shaped like a figure 8 somewhat? My buddy pulled the old cover off and doesn't remember anything being there, but there seems to be a clear mark from apparently an O-ring on both sides, but no groove or anything to hold one? Whats the deal?

I tried drawing it from memory in red here.

No gasket there that I can remember and I just finished rebuilding my motor. There should only be two gaskets there 1. The rear main seal and 2. The rear main cover gasket. You MIGHT be thinking of the front timing cover where there is a gasket in the cam retainer plate that is somewhat the shape of what you've drawn.

I know of the front one and that's on there. I don't know if there is actually something there in back, but the block, and cover have this same shaped discoloration as if there was something there at one point? That's what made me think there needs to be something there. Theirs 2 nickel sized holes inside either side of these holes.

I thought you meant nickel sized gaskets my bad lol. Yeah, all rear main cover gaskets have two seals in them. Like this.
