ELECTRIC water pumps Hello -thinking of replacing mine with an electric pump, can anyone provide pros n cons? I know from reading ads they add HP by reducing parasitic loss (their words). Any issues i should know about? How about reliability over long haul? Any electrical upgrades to electrical system/ or Battery amps required? Thanks in advance :thumb: |
i've not got any driving time on mine yet, i've got the Meziere WP319 street pump. it wired up really easily. if you get on ls1howto.com there is a great write-up on how to install one with a relay like i did on mine. if the key is on, the pump is on. Other than the relay and wire, you don't need anything else besides coolant to install one. i know a couple guys on here say they've got thousands and thousands of miles on their EWP. Meziere claims they're good for 3000+ hours of street/strip use and if anything DOES go wrong, they're easily rebuilt from what i understand. |
I've had my Meziere EWP for 4yrs/13k miles..so far so good (knock on wood) My electrical system is all stock |
I have never had a problem with a Meziere. |
I would agree with everyone else I have the Meizer electric black on it was a brezze to install, has a quick disconnect wiring harness. Have not had a issue out of mine. Been close to 10k mile on it. Just paint the water neck so it look uniform. |
No issues so far with my Meziere EWP Love it! |
i have had mine for about two years, no problem:D |
How much HP have you guys picked up by going EWP??? |
Those of you who have installed these EWP, what did you end doing regarding the belts? Are you still running a/c and powersteering? |

I had an electric water pump on my old LT1 car. I loved it. You could have it running while the car was off if you wanted. Plus it flowed something like 45 gallons per minute constantly as opposed to 26 gallons per minute at 6500 rpm. If the LSX EWP wasn't about $450 more than the LT1 water pump then I'd definitely own one. |
