Default What shorty headders to buy???

Hey guys, looking for some input from anybody who has installed shorty headders on their ls1's. I want to buy some stainless shorty's for my 02' SS and was wondering what you guys think are the best for the buck, and what actualy fits properly. Want to go with shorty's cause of budget concerns (I'm a new daddy) and I already run my car with no muffler, so I feel long tubes and big or no cats would be much to loud for a 99% street car. I am also planning on installing a GMPP cam this summer as well. Thanks for any input i appreciate it.

BBK makes a set of shorty headers for your car for about $350. JBA makes shorties too but they are almost 6 bills. You can get long tubes for that.

Are the BBk's Stainless? Have you installed them?

I think the return on investment for shorties isn't worth it...just keep the stock manifolds from leaking until long tubes are in the budget.

I'm installing a cam shortly, so i need the headders for better flow. also I run my car with no muffler, so i'm feeling long tubes and big or no cats will be to loud for the street and long trips the car goes on.

...I dunno...I'm driving around in a 500rwhp 2010 Camaro SS with longtubes, no cats, 3" duals with an X, and Dynomax Bullets...which are basically doing nothing but killing a little rasp...140+ miles a day...with a big cam too. I just don't think you're going to see any real world flow benefit from the shorties, and I think you'd be better served to wait for longtubes to be in the budget.

+1 on BBK's, awesome fit and great clearance. The only downside is there are no emission fittings or cats so that extra $$. I got mine ceramic coated for around $400ish and no regrets so far. My set up (see sig) isn't very loud fwiw.

If you going to put a cam in i would for sure put in LT's, i understand you will have better flow after the shorty headers but the closer to the engine meaning better flow the better optimized your exhaust is going to be and make more power. If you didnt put in a cam i would say pass on shorties or LT's if sound is what your concerned about. Maybe put LT's with catted Y.

Think i've been talked out of the shortys. LT's are deff a better choice for performance, and the whole reason Im installing the cam is to get that old school lumpy idle. So i should prob stop worring about making my car too loud.
