LS3/L92 block, 12584727 or 12623967? I find both numbers assigned to commonly available blocks, what's the difference?
I'm suspecting that 12623967 provisions for DOD or something and 12584727 does not...but not certain of that.
Anyone know?

But the number stated to supersede 12584727 isn't the other one I see at Scoggin Dickey 12623967.

I believe the only part# now for Ls3/L92 is 12623967 all other previous part #'s (12584727, 12621769, etc..) have been superceded by 12623967.
There are also 2 other part numbers for 6.2L Blocks:
LSA: 12623968
LS9: 12623969
