Default rotating engine by hand

i am doing some lifter / push rod checking, and need to turn over engine by hand, have searched but see nothing on any suggestions. So far i have come up with bending a wrench up to make it fit. saw somewhere about cutting a socket down, not sure about that one. any ideas or links would be appreciated. LS3 6m

usually we stick a socket on the crank pulley. Or you can crank with starter. Sometimes you can grab a belt and spin the motor. Plugs out makes it easier. Depends how strong you are.

well, as you know, can get a socket on it, but no bar or ratchet as the rack is in the way on a Vette, belts won t do it. for sure plugs are out.

Can you put a start button on
the starter, 2 wires with alligator clips
run up to top with a start button.
If you going to make one use a heavy
wire so it doesn't get to hot.

Well, you have to be careful doing it this way, but it works.

Grab a pipewrench and turn it sideways and plate it over the balancer. The close the jaws so they only have a small amount of play. The top jaw should be inside the balancer and the fixed jaw on the outside where the belt rides. You can then crank the engine over.

You have to be careful or you will put teeth marks in the balancer.
