valve covers and coil packs I have an LS3 out of a 2011 Camaro, it has no valve covers, no coil packs and no timing cover. I would like to use parts from a 2002 Chevy Silverado with the 5.3L. Does any one know if the parts from the 5.3L will fit on the LS3? |
The LS3 is a Generation IV engine, while the 5.3 you mention is a Generation III. The sensors are all different between the two, and judging how much you know about these engines, it would be way more trouble than it's worth trying to use GenIII parts on a GenIV engine. Just get some valve covers, coil packs for the LS3, and a Gen IV timing cover, along with whatever else it needs to become a complete GenIV engine. |

They will physically fit, but make sure the coils will work with harness you are using. |
No, the 5.3L valve covers will not clear the offset LS3 rockers. You can cut out the PCV baffles on the passenger valve cover to have them clear, but then you've screwed with your PCV. The driver side cover will bolt on. |
OOPS forgot about the offset rockers not clearing cathedral valve covers... brain fart! |
Ok thank you |
