O-Ring Replacement Questions

4 Attachment(s)
Just swapped out the oil pan on a crate LS3 motor to fit my crossmember. The oil pressure was reading low at hot idle so I picked up a newer o-ring and preparing to swap it out. Couple concerns that I thought I would run by you guys.

1. Noticed that this particular pickup tube only has one bolt. Is this normal with a pan swap?

2. The gasket looks brand new, do I need to swap it out or is it fine?

Any other tips on making sure this o-ring seat well would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance, have a great day!

Just a few more pics from the pickup tube. Doesn't appear to have a noticeable pinch but maybe its one of those things that you can't tell when looking at the pics? Thought I would post just in case someone sees something.

Thanks again in advance.

1. I hav only seen pick up tubes its one bolt...so normal.

2. Pan gasket can be reused if the rubber is not totally flat.

You should do some searching around. There are various reports that certain tubes require thicker o-rings.

Really appreciate the heads up on the o-ring sizing. I will do some searching on this. Thanks and have a great evening.

The way I understand it is, if the tube has an indent around it for the O-ring, it takes the thicker one. WITHOUT the indent, the thinner O-ring.

You can buy a girdle to make the tube two bolt: https://ls1tech.com/forums/generatio...ce-girdle.html

Quick Update -

I went with the recommended thicker 'red' o-ring. Seemed to fit well. Put it all back together this morning and appears with first drive to have improved oil pressure.

Hot Idle is now 26-29 PSI

Hot Idle before was ~12-14 PSI

From some searches on the forum the new PSI at hot idle seems to be in the range of what others are experiencing. Does that seem right to all of you?

Thanks in advance.

Motor is a crate GM LS3 6.2

Thanks for the info, might just have to do that if I drop the pan again. Only 24 bucks for peace of mind. Looks sexy too.

Your hot idle pressure is very good.
