Default LS3 swap alternator wiring problems

So I swapped to the LS3 for a few months now and I have a spear tech harness which has the pack connector into the alternator. I also have the single wire in my painless kit from when I had the SBC engine. So I plugged both in and ran it for past 3 months with no problem but little miles. Recently my voltage is jumping and running around 18.1 v and I’m seeing st the gauge and on my scan tool which is not good. So am I double feeding the system or did I fry the voltage regulator? Or do I just not have a wire jumping from the pack connector to the lug output to send signal to regulator?

What alternator are you running? LS3 doesn't mean anything......Too me anyway.

I would run a "resisted" ignition hot to pin B.....Either through a incandescent bulb (Generator Lamp) or a 470 ohm resistor.

I saw this, I’m gonna play with it but also my harness and computer are from Speartech and I would think they would have this planned out already in their harness. How does the resisted line work with the ALT? Wouldn’t you want some sort of V or signal to the regulator to say “hey you’re outputting too much, dusk it back”.

The regulator "Senses load/voltage" from being connected to the Output/Charge post inside the alternator case, "CS" & "AD" series alternator can usually be "turned-on" using the LAMP terminal.

ECM/PCM control of the alternator can get complicated when your not using the factory alternator with factory ECM/PCM. Even then....No guarantee it will keep-up with high demand.

Here's the diagram everyone refers to.....

So does it sound like I need to swap terminals and add a resistor or did I blow the regulator?

I would check the wiring & fix if necessary. Also make sure the charge cable is good & big enough.....I run at least a 8 gauge charge wire. Make sure the engine/alternator is grounded well.
