Default Best heads to go with?

I have a 1999 Trans Am A4 the mods I have are SLP lid, chris1313 ram air kit, mild cam (218/227), 1 3/4 long tube headers to a 3 inch Y pipe. I plan on getting a LS6 intake and a 32-3600 stall, maybe a UD pulley. I was told 243 heads would be the best for my mods. What do you guys think?

Those, or 799's which are identical. Porting makes them even better, but stock is a great start.

Yeah haven't decided on ported or just stock. Don't wanna push the limits to bad because I know the rear end get weak hopefully being an auto it'll be good then the transmission is what I'm worried about next

As many know, a properly ported head fattens up the curve all the way up and down, which makes driving a lot nicer. It will make whichever cam you use more effective. Stage I from TSP is only $750 plus parts.(usually valve springs if you need an upgrade).

Usually the A4 will sacrifice itself to save the rear axle. Very noble

There’s several variables that’ll blow your rear diff before peak hp will

A side question for the OP -- is it the VERY best heads or the best heads at xx price point?

On a 5.7, IMO the best is Mamo 220, Mamo 223 (TFS 220 casting plus Mamo lovin), mast small bore rectangle ports. But the price points may have you looking elsewhere.

Then you get to PRC, TEA, AI, Livernois, etc

Just looking for the best heads for the money. Not really looking to spend 1000 dollars on a pair of heads. It's kinda a budget/mild build (why the cam is so small)

If you are looking to only spend a grand or less you will need to buy used, and will likely be limited to a ported stock casting like the 243, 241, 706, etc...

Are 862 heads any good? My friend has some that are in pretty good shape. Just wanted to know if they were any good or not?
