Gen IV 5.3L Turbo Build

I just recently purchased a 2010 Chevrolet Suburban 4x2 with an iron LMG. I'm planning throwing a turbo kit on it so I can have a not so typical 600-700hp family SUV. The research I have done suggests that I need to open up the motor and address the ring gaps. Since the motor has 140,000 miles on it and it needs to be disassembled, I am looking to address the following:

1. Bore the block out to 3.905", line honed and decked (I wanted to bore it out to 4.0" but I read that it's not recommended)
2. New forged flat top pistons, I-beam rods and new bearings (crank and cam)
3. Mild cam (I have no idea what specs to look for. Some say LS6 will suffice and some say go with a custom grind)
4. Ported & polished heads with a valve job, new guides, roller rockers & lifters and PAC 1218 springs
5. New timing set, water pump and oil pump
6. ARP head studs/bolts and LS9 MLS head gaskets
7. Stock intake manifold, throttle body and 1000 cc injectors
8. On3 turbo kit with a Borg Warner S475 turbo

Please feel free to chime in and let me know if I'm on the right path or what recommendation you have.

Thanks in advance, Jason!

Sounds like a lot of unnecessary expense.

For 600 HP, I would skip #s 1, 2, 4, 5, 6.

Build Sheet = COST Reduction

Hi Jason, I too agree with Joe.

I would like to state a similar build with some OEM items found in good condition.

1. Bore and TP hone to 3.904" for FF STEEL Rings, NO Main/Deck work with a "read" of the OLD bearings for Alignment Verification AND Straight Edge of deck measured. (-$300.00)
2. Racetech Forged Pistons with STEEL Rings, My Forged "H" beam rods, King bearings. (Equal)
3. YES, a Z-06 camshaft $100.00, the same one I made 1250HP@22.lbs. (Equal)
4. New S/S Valves, Serdi Valve Machined job, guides should be OK with S/S NEW Valves, No Porting just simple "blend" work, CHE Rocker Rebuild, PSI 1511ML Valve Spring. (-700.00)
5. My Avon Gear Timing Set, GM Water Pump and GM VVT Oil Pump. (Equal)
6. My Head Studs, FelPro HG@.041" (-200.00)
7. My 850 CC fuel Injectors (same)
8. Turbo OR Eaton S/C ???

Quit being such an ass! He's speaking the same English we learned in school. Well, in my case, at least...

Sorry, I forgot to mention that I wanted to overbuild it so I can round up that 600-700hp number to 1000+hp in the future.

Thanks for the feedback! Would any of this change if you wanted to have the capacity to open up the waste gate to make 1000+hp or could it still be done safely with this "recipe"?

"Opening" the wastegate bleeds off all pressure making the engine naturally aspirated. You mean holding the wastegate shut?? And then BLOWING the engine in more ways than one, possibly...

I just want to get 1.21 jigawatts.

I hope you've had cars with 1000 HP before. Most of the guys that come to me wanting 1000 HP kiss the ground after doing 800whp street pulls with me. 99.99% of the guys here that just casually throw out 1000 HP as a goal never even finish their overly ambitious builds.

Hart 416 = 1400 HP @ 89 CID

Hi Jay, sure just use GOOD fuel AND HIGH RPM.

You WOULD REQUIRE larger fuel injectors.

My friend Brian Hart did so with his four cylinder engine with a displacement of 1500cc (89 CID) AND the OUTPUT was 1400 HP.

Thus a LS 7000 cc could make 6K HP with the same tune.

YES Joe, a "hand-full of wheel", I KNOW this as a FACT with my Lola333cs 619HP and a weight of 1520 .lbs (2Lb/1HP)
