Default C5 alt won’t charge @ idle

so my whipple / ly6 uses a corvette alt bracket. The biggest alt I could find was a 175 alt. It works fine , but car idles @750 so sometimes it won’t charge @idle. If I tap gas a few times , sometimes it will charge. Other times it stops when it returns back to idle. Drives me nuts . Volts will go down to 10.7 and car will run rich. Right now the pulley is a 2 5/8. Not sure if I can go smaller. Car has an optima yellow top in the trunk. Any ideas?

It's only 3-4 mo old . I saw powermaster came out w a 220 amp c5 alt that's supposed to charge good @ idle but it's $375.

That's a bad alternator. 750 rpm is plenty for the alt to charge. The factory idle was lower than that and they charged fine.
