ls3 into a 97 Vette

Hi I an about to start the install of a LS3 into a 97 Vette. I have done a lot of checking and the only thing I am a little confused about: some sat I have to change the intake out some don't. Do I need to change the intake
I am using the LS1 coputer with a conversion box
thanks

I have 97 vette fuel rails on a L76 intake for my return-style fuel system in my 94 firebird - not sure how comparable that is to LS3 (IIRC they're virtually the same) but I can't imagine it's much different?

If I recall correctly you will have to get an extention for the MAP sensor since it moves from the back of the manifold to the front. Also the MAP sensors are different from the LS1 to the LS3. Some say to adapt the LS! MAp and some say to tune the PCM for the LS3 one. I will be putting an LS3 into a 4th gen Monte SS using a LS1 PCM and will just be adpating the LS1 MAP. Oh and you will have to get an adapter to use the 3 bolt throttle body onn the LS3 4 bolt manifold.

I'm putting an LS3 intake in my 2000 Formula. So far, I know about the MAP issue mentioned (I'm using an LS3 MAP and also needed to buy an extension w/ conversion, also tune changes) and a throttle cable bracket. There also is a vacuum connection (for a/c) in the back of the LS1 style manifold (at least on the f-bodies) that is not on the back of the LS3 manifold. Don't know how I will fix this.

Kooks

Hi
I am now looking at looks street headers. On the kooks web page they day their street headers must be used with there x-pipe. Does anyone here know why. Is anyone running them without tha kooks x-pipe. I understand the concept of the x-pipe.
Thanks
Mike

Flywheel question

Hi
The LS3 that I purchased came out of an automatic
Car and the 97 is a 6 speed. After checking it looks like I can use the flywheel from the LS1 on the LS3.
Is this current? Are there any other things I should be aware of?
Thanks

I think the auto had L99 or some other engine designation due to a different cam.

Which car did the LS3 come out of?

MPETERS 06-13-2019 08:23 PM

What car

it came out of a 2009 Corvette Grznd Sport. It was an automatic. The 97 it is going into is a 6 speed

Map question

Hi
Well the ls3 is sitting in the 97 frame. Now working on hooking everything up to the LS3.
The first question has to do with the MAP sensor. The one on the LS1 is at the back of the engine. I have the harness to extend the wiring to the front sensor, however, I don't know
where would be the best place to pick up the vac. for the power brakes. Where would be the best place to do this?
Also on the LS1 there is what I think is an air temp sensor, do I need this on the LS3, if so where should I install it?

Along another line, I read that since the engine came out of an auto car I might have to change out the cam, any comments on that
Thanks
Mike

fuel pump help

Hi,

Well LS3 into my 97 Vette is completed but not running, fuel pump not running. Brought

it to a shop who charged me a ton of money but did not fix the problem. They told me

the new fuel pump I installed was bad and I had to buy another one. I brought a

Aeromotive Stealth 340 Electric Fuel Pump, which they said they could not use because

it would not fit. So I brought a stock pump walbro pump and was told again they could not

use that pump. At that point I pulled the car out of there. I would like to use the Stealth 340,

however the fuel hose will not connect to the carried lid as the rubber seal does not have a

large enough hole. I think I read someplace here that I can drill the rubber seal out and

use something to seal the larger line in place. What do I use to seal it
