You can build a ton of horsepower and torque for a lot less money, but in many places it also has to be emissions compliant.

Something else to remember about the $100k price tag is that the rest of the car will reflect this additional expense.

Unlike Ford that adds more fat along with the more power, GM is actually cutting the fat and making sure the car comes in as a leaner, meaner, trimmer version of the base corvette and I've read somewhere that this migh tbe the first vette in a long time weighing less than 3000lbs. Look at all the exotics and see how much they weigh. GM is definitely on the right track and hopefully they will do the same with the camaro. Keep the weight down to 3400 or less and all that extra power will make things fun.

Yes, but in strict emissions areas (Cali, or where I am), the LS9 is STILL NOT going to be 'emissions compliant' anyway. That is unless your local inspection ***** ONLY use OBD 2 plug in testing, you've found a way to program/trick their equipment to think it's reading inputs from a pure stock LS1 brain (these won't work with an LS9, right??), AND they are too stupid/not enough in the know to recognize that the big box on top of the engine and the whine noise are NOT what belongs in that model/year car. Given their general intellect levels, this last point might be moot.

So is this supercharger I see in the pictures the same as the TVS chargers I keep hearing about in the coming months?

If this charger can adapt to other LSX engines, then it looks like it will fit under my cowel?!!!

Anyone got any thoughts on this?

It is rumored to use the TVS rotors, but with an inverted design with the blower in the valley, and the intercooler on top of the blower. Magnachargers design using TVS core does not appear to use the same setup. Also, some believe the blower will most likely only work with L92/LS3 style heads.

I wonder why they didnt put long tube headers on the ls7 or ls9. They designed new manifolds specifically for these motors but theyre shorties. Seems like if they were trying to get every bit of power out of these motors they would use longer primaries. After all look at what they spent on ti rods.

You cannot get cats close enough to long tubes to 'light off' properly and meet the 50 state/Euro tailpipe emmissions standards. Regardless of how much power GM wants to make, they still have to meet the EPA/DOT ****'s regulations if they want to sell the car off of showroom floors.

Not everyone lives in states where you can do whatever the f*** you want to your powertrain abd get away with it (but we wish we did!).
