Default New Aftermarket Aluminum Block on the horizon

Apparently there is a new Aluminum Block that is coming out. Word is its very beefy in the mains, 6 bolt compatible with LSx or Warhawk heads, and should be able to take some serious abuse.

We're working on getting one right now but I'm not expecting anything.

I am sitting here in Orlando at ATEC. THe first block is in the back of the room. Overheard they should be available March or April. Don't quote me on that.

The block looks good and is not final machined.

It is by Comp/RHS

Very interesting. Will it be competitive, price wise, against the Warhawk or are we still too far out to know that much detail?

The block is un machined so it's hard to know many things.

Brian Reese touched on the block in his presentation yesterday.

What I remember....

Allows a 4.6" Stroke crank with Lunati Steel Rods Yes I said 4.6" Stroke!

They had to move the oil passage and raise the cam. I thought that they said .380 on the cam.

Enough room to use a 60MM Cam

Cylinder Sleeve length same as a LS7 or was that the C5R, oh well they have longer sleeves

Bore max is 4.165"

I heard it will need tie bar lifters (no big deal)

Room for large lifters

Ability to use 1/2" main studs. He does not recomend that but many people think they need that.

I heard the block was/is cast in the UK

That is what I remember, don't hold me to anything

I wonder if anybody would notice if that block was missing today?
In my best judgement at this time this block will be the best piece on the market for a high hp ls engine, but it will not be a direct swap, there are some special parts required for the piece(raised cam)but none the less, the main are very beefy and the casting is very good quality.Def another good step in insuring these high end ls engines live

The block has some very nice features like the LS1 cam sensor and knock sensor bosses, now you can run a belt drive without a dist. The main bulkheads looked wide and beefy, but it was an unmachined casting at this point. Sure looks promising for the future builds.

So far it looks easily to be the best of the LSx blocks out yet.
