Cam gear won't budge. Is it stuck?
 
lined up dot to dot before the removal (alignment pin is due East). Removed the three bolts, and the cam gear won't come off. Applied a reasonable amount of torque by prying, and even turned the motor over 360° with the crank.

It will not move. What could it be? Anyone else experience this?

How do I remove a stuck cam gear?

Sometimes the pin is a press fit. Even with aftermarket gears, the pin is so tight, I have to drive it on with the bolts, then it is really hard to get off. Try not to hurt the chain and pry it off.

I tried gently prying with a screwdriver and it didn't move a micron. I put two oversized bolts into the cam gear to see if it would twist in either direction, to no avail.

I'm fairly certain at this point that the pin on the (stock) camshaft is a press fit, which is completely stupid. I've never seen or even heard of this before.

Short of drilling out the pin on the cam, how can I get this gear off?

Has anyone else experienced this?

You might want to try a little heat. Try heating it up with a propane torch carefully. Watch out, oil is flamable.

or use force and leverage. IE use the screwdriver or prybay heat it up, and use a 3lb hammer or even a standard 24 oz one completely 180 degrees from the side you have the screwdriver

OK I'll try raising the temp of the cam gear to 120°C and see how it goes. Will report back.

Didn't even need the heat. It turns out, you can get a pry bar behind the cam sprocket, so it's pushing directly on the cam sprocket, and leveraging against the cam retainer plate. Thus, a significant amount of leverage and no risk to the timing chain. I aligned the pin at the top, applied some force with the pry bar, and it came off.

you may have already done this, but you are sliding the crank and cam gears simultaneously, right? or do you already have the timing chain off?
