Ls2 cam swap?
I'm looking at doing a cam swap on a bone stock LS2 in a my DD 06 GTO and have a cam with .566 lift and 232/237 duration on a 114lsa. I got the cam from a fellow member and was told it was a MTI r1 cam. The cam was made buy Lunati, so I called them and was told it only had .566 on both in/exh not the 571/.578 that I have found the r1 cam to have. The lift is not a problem for me for as the cam is a little bigger than I need anyway.
my question is- At what point do you change the push rods? Based off lift or duration?
I know the factory springs are good for .570 lift, but everyone I see is replacing the springs and push rods when they do a cam swap. So what do you guys think?
But I don't want to do that. I'm looking for info on how weak or strong the factory stuff is. I'm not looking to be cheap, just looking for info on why.
Your going to have everything apart anyway why not just do the springs, retainers and pushrods? It's really not that much money and big piece of mind.
-just do it right.
