help me go fast next year ls3!!
ok i have a 98 camaro 6 speed with stock new ls3 with lg motorsports g6x3!
midwest chassis rear
umi k-frame and control arms
ac removed
bogart d10s
and more!
next winter i need help with a new build to run 9s on pump gas with no spray!!
should i stroke my ls3 to 418 or 427? which setup should i do?
should i forged my motor and go with procharger? (no turbo)
or what other ideas do you guys have?
i am going to give her all shes got this year but i diff. want more power for next season!! thanks alot aj

Hey man, I have virtually your exact setup, car, engine and all. I have LMR's stage II cam, which from what I gather is kind of similar. I put down within a few on hp and tq, even, through a dual dual.
What is your budget? What fuel pump do you have?
Your simplest way is a procharger though if it were me, I'd strongly consider a Maggie and the requisite hood and fitment issues, you don't need an intake and can sell yours so that offsets a nice chunk of change. The torque is so incredible with those TVS2300s, upsize the injectors, get some traction, hold the rear together, and I think you may see low low 10s and still drive the same every day.
That leap from 10s to 9s seems launch/rear dependent on M6 cars but I wouldn't trade the fun. Strap on a Maggie and stomp it 'til the shorty gives, then slap a 427 in there.

price range i would like to be no more then $12000!
i have the racetronixs with wire buster harness
yea i love the 6 speed but i will find out how much i really like it this year at track! also i drive car more on street then track!

With that budget, the Vortech may be your only option as it would be silly not to do or at least save for a 9" rear. With an M6, you'll need a 9 to see 9s and live. I personally would try and squeeze in a Maggie as the power curve they make is just unreal. The torque is so awesome and comes on so soon, you could not leave or shift super hard and still run 10s I bet. I like the stock hood but that and a cowl trim are things I'd be willing to consider personally, to get a Maggie in there. Just look at all the 600+ rwhp blown 2010s running around, subtract 400lbs of weight and let your imagination run wild...

Yea i already have the midwest chassies 9 inch rear!!!blower is around $6500 and fuel system $700! So then i need forged rods and pistons and i would be good to go.

The LS3 shorts are much stronger than the LS1 and 2. I wouldn't hesitate to run the blower with the cam. I bet it lasts a long time at 600rwhp, given the LS3's strength and the quality of your tuner. Strap the Maggie on there, run it, and save the leftover for a rainy day/shortblock.

You really need to decide NA or FI - 2 completely different build paths to take.
For a street car, hard to argue with power of FI - even for a DD. You could take your stock LS3, replace rods & pistons, have mains doweled and assemble with ARP studs. Have your heads ported and top off the package with a Procharger F1A. Spend around $1300 on an upgraded fuel system, add some meth and you should have power to hit 9's on pump gas. Most of this would be bolt on stuff but results could be impressive. If you can fabricate, turbo might even be better.
To get same quarter times NA you will need a bigger engine, better heads/cam and many other parts and a car not as well suited for driving all the time. Probably won't make as much power as a FI car but can be very close in 1/4 time, maybe not trap speed.

If you're going the high boost FI route, you don't really want a 427 of either breed unless you plan on re-sleeving the block. The LS7's cylinder walls are too thin for high boost. And LS3 427's stroke is too long...you could end up peeking the bottom ring out of the cylinder.
An LS3 stroker for boost generally stays at the 416/418 ci range. I like the smaller 416 as it leaves a little more material in the cylinder liners. But the 4.000" stroke is more boost friendly than the 4.100" stroke of the LS3 427's.
Now, if you're going N/A...no replacement for displacement.
Me personally, I'd keep stock displacement but forge the bottom end. Then boost the snot out of it....especially with your budget. I'm just waiting on LS9 internals to be available separately...otherwise TSP is the way I'd go.

I need to get me an LS3. I see you can get an LS3 376/480HP crate engine now for around $6500. How difficult was it to get everything to work?? Are you using your stock PCM and fuel system design??

very easy!! all you need is the lingenfelter module kit. i am doing another one in my garage now in a 02 trans-am (gm crate blower ready 376 lsx with procharger d1sc) should be badass!

I'd say depends on how much of a streeet car you are wanting haha. Me personally i could drive a drag car on the street and be fine (besides exhaust of course). That being the case i'd say N/A with a huge cam and top of the line parts.
If you want something more street friendly then go with the procharger and lower compression, a blower cam etc. That would be the most street friendly option. If you go blower i'd say keep the block and stock crank. If you go N/A then it depends on money, i'd love to have an LS7 block but then again an LS3 can get pretty nasty too haha.

Too bad LS3 does not come with forged rods & pistons for $6500. The baby "blower friendly" LSX still has the powder rods but does have upgraded pistons.
