L92's.. are they worth it?

are stock L92s and an L76 intake setup worth the money over a set of stock 243's/LS6 manifold?

I've just recently purchased a complete LQ4 out of a truck ($650 bucks) that I have plans of putting in my '95 formula. since I cant use the intake/rails/injectors from the truck, and I really don't wanna use the 317s either, i thought about buying an L92/L76 setup.

a friend of mine has a set of L92's with comp 921's, an L76 with 42lb inj. prof. products rails, a NW90mm TB, and an SLP throttle cable bracket all with <500miles on them. asking $1400 bucks.

on the cheap side, I'd have atleast $400 for some 243's, $300 for an LS6 manifold, $200 for patriot springs. re-use my SVO 30lb injectors and stock TB.

I don't have a camshaft yet, I'm waiting to order one till I decide which heads I go with.

I'd say a stock L92/L76 setup will have much more power potential than a stock 243/LS6 setup.

I'm not having a problem with mine..:)

I'd say yes. That's why I've decided to go with L92's and an LS3 intake on my new 6.0 build. With a similar cam, on both setups, you'd be looking at probably another 50 whp more with the L92/L67 setup.

Hands down the L92 setup. Check out some of the vendors on their l92 specific cams such as EPS, TSP, and Virginia Speed.

I agree with the others, go with the L92 setup.

Over that set up the l92's are the way to go. If you have the cash, trick flow ported fast is better.

Noob question, but Does anybody know what the definitive limit for boost/power limit is on the l92's? or even the ls7 heads for that matter?

i have no idea what the "limit" is. but I know a friend of mine ran 22psi through his L92's, and made 929rwhp through a TH400 and a 9inch.. he was knocking on the 8-second door with them.

anyone here running any good times with an L92 head/cam setup?
I'm looking for some N/A 10sec runs.

I'm sure there are a few cars here doing that..I see mine doing that when I get a chance to get it to the Track. :)

The consensus I have been getting is that stock casting l92s or ls7s will not hold more than 12lbs reliably.

I have Lingenfelter CNC L92s on my 6.0L, Love them!!

I started with the stock L76, and have since upgraded to the FAST LSXR intake also.

L92's, higher compression, hydraulic roller=Great heads!!
Deck is kinda thin for any serious boost or nitrous, unless you go with All Pro L92's.
Spring pocket is kinda small for a big solid roller spring although some have worked with it and had success.

My L92 headed motor, 441cubes, hydraulic, stock ported intake, 13:1cr-nothing exotic ran like a champ (now it's sold) mid to high 9's N/A any day of the week.

I have my stock L76 intake in the classifieds if you need one.
