Default LS3 Rod bearings - Best deal for 16? Please help

I need to get a set of rod bearings to swap into my engine over the weekend.
I assume I should swap all sets even though I only hear a bit of noise?

Happened like this.... oil pressure sender failed and nearly ran the engine dry before I could shut down. Wasn't beating on it. Don't hear rod knock with a stethoscope at idle but from about 2500 up you start to hear it.

I read that #6 is usually the first to go, but for the effort I'd rather polish the journals as needed and put in all new rod bearings....

anyone want to share their experience here?

-From what I can see, a set of Clevite CB663HN are about $90for all 16?
-Anything better?
-Anywhere cheaper?
-Should I look at a different bearing part number?
-What should I use to polish the journals?

If anyone is wondering, This is a TIGHT budget for me.... or I'd try to do something more professional hahaha

The LSx engines use the same actual rod bearings as an SBC? wow, I thought it was just the same journal dimensions.

TIA

2 shops, thanks guys!

Have either of your shops seen rod bearing damage that could walk away from the shop with just a light polish on the journal and new bearings?

Is it possible to just deform the bearing or wear it some without getting the rod or journal out of round?

Can the bearing be sacrificial to a degree before it starts to hurt the hard parts?

I'm probably going to find out one way or the other since I can't afford to do it 'right'

time or moneywise..

Every situation/failure is different...so you may get lucky and just have to replace the bearing, you may have to just have the journals polished, or you might have to turn it. Hard to say without having the crank here!

You need to have the crank checked out. If it's really stock you could even use Clevite cb663P which are very inexpensive like 20 bucks a set. I have some you can have for that but you may need your crank turned and you can't get that done too many places the same day or anything.

As Erik said, IMO should use a CB663P bearing, H bearings are narrowed or chamfered for aftermarket crankshaft.
H bearings are less forgiving on stock crankshaft, its a harder surface. They don't like to embed debris, so they score up the journal instead.

We have multiple customer cars in the 8's, stock LS crankshaft, 663P rod bearings, and re ringed them between race seasons, which allowed us to inspect the bearings. Its not something we think works, its what we've seen outcome with.

Theirs also Clevite A bearings too if you wanna get crazy cheap, which are just straight aluminum bearings.

hope this helps.

Huh... interesting. Cheap bearings work great?

I'm in a bind fellas. I drive this car everyday. I need to double check the valve train also to make sure that's not my noise. So I was looking to a friend to see if he had an adjustable pushrod I could borrow today. No reply yet.

I'm doing this work in my driveway with a hydraulic cherry picker and hand tools. I have a three day weekends this weekend and next weekend, but I don't think I can get this pulled checked and fixed over a weekend

So bad situation leads to me entertaining a possibly bad gamble?

And I still need to get a tune, it's running rich. Ahhhh swap cars

My engine was L92 based. I removed the VVT and put in an LS7 cam (budget again)
The base circle is 1.55 on the L92 and 1.45 on the LS7. So I put 7.45" prods in. But it still makes noise.

When I checked with my stethoscope I could not pick up rod knock for certain, but the engine has no load on it in this scenario...
