AI 226s or PRC 250cc LS3 heads?
Okay I am having a forged LS2 built to go in my C5. I have about $1300 or $1400 bucks to buy heads for my motor. I am trying a hardest to put down 500 N/A and I know it can be done. I have seen it done multiple times in LS2's with the AI 226 heads. It will be a custom cam that my engine build is going to get once I choose which heads I want. I haven't found to many people running the PRC LS3 heads but the few that I have seen loved them and put down very good power. I am going to be running the highest compression possible to be able to be run pump gas (11.5-11.8). And this will be a nitrous motor so keep that in consideration also. Plan on spraying a 200-250 shot through a standalone with C16.
If I go with the LS3 heads i'm going to pick up a ported L76 intake and ported LS2 throttle body.
If I go with the AI heads I will run a FAST 102 with a NW TB.
Thanks

prc 250 ls3 heads run about 2g's and ai 226s run about 1,800 so youll need a few more pennies. i run ported exhausts only ls3 heads on an lq9 (iron ls2). biggest factor for me being on a budget was better flowing heads and intake, an ls2 portworks ported l92 intake.
if i had more pennies, i would choose the ai 226s. why? because on 364 cubes, the 226 intake port volume is better for actual torque than the 250. the fast intake would also be better over a ported ls3/l76 intake.
also, on ls2 shortblock with ls3 heads, you are more limited on cam lift due to ls2 pistons not having large valve reliefs to accomodate the ls3 heads bigger intake valves which can cause ptv issues. i am close to 11:1 cr with a .015 mill and .040 gaskets. to get to 11:5 would really affect ptv. you could have valve reliefs made on the pistons but you still have to mill the heads like .030 and run .040 gaskets leaving very little room for cam lift.
in conclusion, you can reach your hp goals with either head. however, easier to get to your desired cr of 11:5 with the 226 heads; can run more cam lift with the 226 heads; can run better intake with the 226 heads; so i have to pick the 226 heads. just my 2 cents but consider all ive pointed out.

Im running the 250cc and love em but there are on a 408 motor. Idk if your have enough cubes for the heads. Best things to do is call up texas speed and see what they say. They wont try to sell you anything you dont need.
