If your wanting to go with cathedral heads and on a budget look no further then the TFS 245cc
Stock LS7 heads are also a good budget option but personally unless I was going with some custom LS7 style head I would stick with the TFS 245cc.
Now if you wanna take it a step further then All Pro, Mast and Brodix all make a great LS7 head that can make all the power you could want. Thing is you start getting into bigger things/options such as shaft mount rockers and titanium valves.
Have a set of Brodix BR7 heads for my all out N/A 454 LSX build. Really wanted All Pros but they were back ordered and didn't want to wait. Then ordered a Holley Hi-Ram only to find out they to were back ordered...

i was talking with tony mamo a while back about building my motor. things got hectic and i gave up on building motors. now im back into it but going about it differently. im thinking of sending tony a pm and having him spec my build and port my intake and what not. but i just may go with the mamofied AFR 245s.

it was out of AirFlow research and AllPro. Now that you mention it i forgot to put trickflow in the mix.
i was reading a thread simular to mine and from what i read the trickflow 235s were better than the 245s for a large CI motor for some reason. this is a tough choice, all 3 are awesome heads. i want as much power and TQ as this thing can make but dont want an all out race car either. it needs to be able to cruise around on a nice saturday night...i think im straying off topic a little bit im tired

I would go with TEA Trick Flow 265's all day long. For your set-up, you need a larger port volume and cross sectional area than a 235 or 245 can give you. I don't think you need 305cc of intake runner though. I feel like 265-275cc would be ideal in this application and that the 265cc head will produce the strongest power curve.
The cam that will be used will also play a huge part in the power output and power curve. A traditional mind set with an engine this large where single pattern cams and small splits are the norm will not create that very nice long flat torque curve and give you peak power like you'd expect a large cylinder head large cubic inch application to give you.
Is this a 4.20" bore 4.00" stroke engine or is it square/under-square? No one has even asked that question yet, as the size of the bore and stroke will play a HUGE factor in what size cylinder head and intake valve needs to be used on an engine of this size.
What header primary size and collector size you will be using will also play a part in how large the exhaust port needs to be. Scavenging a big motor is critical and exhaust port size and primary/collector size and design also will determine the cylinder head selected and valve events of the camshaft.

Have you checked out the RHS PRO ELITE LS7 Heads. These actually sound pretty like some nice heads.

If the motor was mine I wouldn't pick the cylinder heads myself. I would let my engine builder match the whole engine together. I would talk to someone like hke or a engine builder that does great big cube builds all the time.

Did you checkout the LS7 cylinder head shootout on hot rod magazine? The PRC 285cc heads were the only LS7 heads to move 400cfm. We've made well over 700hp with those heads on a similar combo.
