Every engine builder should have one of these
AlignIt Tools are used to align the Rear Main and Timing Covers and install the seals!
Whether your a Pro or a Do Your Own Repair kind of guy, here is a simple but very effective tool to help you make
easy work of installing your LS1-2-3-6-7-9- LQ4-LQ9- 5.3-6.0 and all GM v8's from 1997-2013 Timing and Rear Main cover and seals. Works with all LS based engines!
Here is a couple simple but very effective tools to help you make easy work of aligning your Timing and Rear Main Covers. CNC Machined to exact tolerances, the AlignIt tools
get the covers centered perfectly with the crank. The O-ring design makes for a perfect snug fit no matter the temperature that can cause expansion/contraction of engine covers, crank & tools
that will hinder a perfect fit. The O ring design eliminates this problem. After the covers are centered and torqued down, use the AlignIt Tools to install the seals in seconds!
Available in the Pro Series 6061 Aluminum Anodized and the standard PVC Plastic. Both are CNC Machined to exact specs from Billet materials.

If you're doing a Rear Main Seal or Engine Build, its a good time to start keeping unfiltered oil out of your bearings and lifters! Check these Billet Oil System Improvement parts out!

Sorry Allan, we don't.
The problem we found is by using the seal to align the cover is that the seal is soft and will not hold the cover exactly center with the crank, especially if the pan is off. Our AlignIt tool fits solid on the crank and into the cover for a mistake free install. Then the seal is installed using the AlignIt tool to keep the seal from getting cocked or distorted. The AlignIt just helps make it easier and with no chance of misalignment that can cause a leak. Plus it fits nicely in the tool box.

Hi allan808,
We do have a Hub Simulator tool. Its not as accurate as the AlignIt Tool because the seal flex's. It works the same as using your hub to line it up.
You can find it here.

Saccityvette,
I was weary once I started watching the video, as I didn't think installing the seal was that easy. I always figure it should be off the engine and something supporting the back side of it during install. Looks like a good tool!!!

If you already have the rear cover off couldnt you put the seal in the cover and use the plastic ring to line everything up? what would be the benefit of this over that? Real question, not trying to doubt what looks like a good product. Also i thought you were suppose to put the seal on without lube because they come prelubed
