Default Cam/Stall converter question - 68 C10

I have an L99/6L80 out of a 2013 Camaro SS. I installed it in a 68 C10 SWB:

https://ls1tech.com/forums/conversio...e-tvs1900.html

I mechanically deleted the VVT/AFM basically conveting it to an LS3. While doing that I installed a Comp Cam 219/235 113LSA 3-bolt cam along with dual springs and 7.4 pushrods. I also placed a TVS1900 Magnacharger on top with Siemens SD80 injectors. Now to my question, the 6L80 has the factory stall (2200??), will I need a higher stall, and if so, what size? I'm running a 4.11 gear with a 31" tall tire in a 4000 Lb truck. Thanks in advance.

I had that same cam in an LS3 and it comes on pretty early. That and the big TQ increase from the FI, I would stay pretty tight on stall speed. Something in the 3000 range should keep solid drive ability, but melt the tires.

Thanks Newschool. I forgot to mention this is going to be my daily driver, so drivability is definitley important. I just got everything installed:

https://ls1tech.com/forums/conversio...e-tvs1900.html

and I'm having a problem with it pushing pretty hard in gear. So I'm not sure if it's the tune, the converter, or a little bit of both. Is there any particular brand of converter you would recommend?

bigger stall id run at least a 3600 from a reputable company which should still drive like oem until you nail it!

Ive always heard good things about Chris at Circle-D and he offers 1 free restall if the first attempt misses the mark. If money is tight, the guys at Revmax offer good value in a quality converter. Either one will want to know everything about your setup and intended use, so be ready to answer a bunch of questions before you call. Good Luck!

That forced induction changes everything. I would not go over 3000 on the stall. 2800rpm might be a good compromise. You are going to have boatloads of torque downlow in the rpm range.

I agree, i would not go above a 2800 stall, 2600 or 2800 and it will drive perfectly! Nice build by the way!!!

Seems to be that 3000 or less would work out well for you. It should be a tire destroyer with anything over a 2000stall, LOL. That cam comes in very early.

I would try the stock converter out. That cam is small-ish with very little overlap and the 4.11 gear is going to help too.

Thanks for all the input guys. I am running it with the factory stall as of right now, the problem I'm having is that it pushes pretty hard when in gear (R or D) when I have my foot on the brake. What I haven't figured out yet, is this because of the stall or the tune...

Yeah that can be cleaned up in the tune. If it idles nicely below 900rpm in park and neutral then it should be possible to get it to behave while in gear.

It idles great in park and neutral (750). But as soon as you put it in gear, it almost seems like you are power braking it....

Yea , that's not coming out with a tune. If it had one of those supercharger high idle issues that some have before a tune, things would be different. The problem probably is that you have very little torque at 750 rpms and the converter is trying to couple. The higher you torque output, the high a given converter will stall. I think it will take a higher stall to be able to idle in gear without the truck trying to move on you. Something between 2500-3000 would work well with your camshaft. I use to run that cam and it came in very early. I ran a 2100 stall with that cam and didn't have any issue with idle in gear. It would move if I let off the brakes, but was easy to hold still.
