i think the 3.8 piston is fine lots of meat left in the cylinder for ring seal and a ls1 size piston isnt giving up much hp if your that concerned about power turbo or nitrous will easily make up the differance while having a stronger piston and cylinder wall

I agree. I plan on running a plate system that is capable of 400hp easy, but I don't want to run more than a 200 shot as I'm running stock rods. Yes arp rod bolts but they only help so much. Also this build is going into an 07 gmc canyon zq8 regular cab auto trans. Too much displacement and I'll just spin my tires everywhere I go. I know 3.905 in not much more but I wanted a little left for later if need be plus the hit of nos. I've picked each part to work together hince the top end kit, yest I upgraded the cam but with info and assurance from tfs. The new bore size is still Ok with the heads and the rest of the build.

if you have the cash a progressive nitrous controller is worth it bring it on as hard as the tires can hold and go full in at the high rpm range

Default update

I finally got my block back this past thursday, But gotta work all weekend.

Since I have time I have some questions. Probably stupid ones and ones I should have asked before I order some of my parts. This is a gen 4 aluminum 5.3 and I'm deleting the vvt. The cam in the tfs top end kit is for a rear cam sensor. I have a sensor on the top rear of the engine cover but also one on the front timing cover. The one on the rear engine cover looks different than that of others on the gen 3. I'm not used to all the electronics and I'm unsure please help as I want to clear this up before I start assembly

Valey cover not rear engine cover. Also I have a complete new wiring harness and computer to work like factory it's for the engine trans and truck together. It's from current performance wiring in Florida.

Forged crank in my opinion for 8000 rpms, but I'm no expert I've mostly built mild sbc engines. Building my first high hp ls now.

Default opinions please

57# fast ls2 style injectors too much for this build? As in going to cause idle problems. I ask because someone told me if they are way too big it may not want to idle properly. I know they are bigger than what I need but are they too big?

Getting started again. Cylinder bore is correct this time, but I'm checking everything all over again.

I'll try to get some pics up today, but it's just simple engine stuff. Short block long block rocker and covers
