Default Thompson Motorsports review??

Thinking about purchasing a long block from thompson motorsports. Looking into a forged 402 ly6. Anyone have any experience with these motors. I know Kyle offers 1 year unlimited mile warranty

Brain Thompson built a few engines for Mark Stielow they know a great deal about S/c engines. He has a nice 454LSx block, Ls7 heads with a LS9 - S/c sitting on top that was making 850hp and 900lb-ft to boot in a 72 Chevelle SS. I've only read nothing but good things about his company :-) Spoken to him twice, very cool guy and very informative.

Bought my LQ9 from them and couldn't be happier! Kyle is most helpful and the prices and warranty were the best I could find

He has been very helpful. He's answered the million questions I have. I'm just needing a long block so I'm getting ready to fork down some $$.. i have yet to see very many bad reviews but a lot are very old. But I'm really considering him for the motor in my 08 g8. How's that camaro running HCL2000SS???

Car runs awesome Alfredo! I've had the TMS block for about a year and a half now, and it's running perfect. Much better than the old LS1 I had. You will be very satisfied with them...i'm sure of that!

Thinking of a fully forged 408. He said he could do me a ly6 block. And that's good to hear man that makes me feel better. Any details on your motor? Power numbers? Track numbers?

A 408 would be awesome! All the details of my motor are in my signature. As far as track numbers go I only got one pass so far and it was a horrible since I hit the rev limiter on the 1-2 shift and pulled a crappy 2.1 60ft lol. I still managed a 12.4 @ 118 mph in spite of that though. Never got a nitrous pass either. The car runs exceptionally strong for the mods that it has, so it's very capable. What kind of build will you do with that 408?

Will be using iron ly6 tho. So I won't have to mess with cam sensor and knock sensors

I'm wondering the same thing. I'm looking to build a new forged LS3 for my GXP. He seems knowledgeable answering my questions and the prices seem great (shipping/crating is better than all). He seems to have picked my engine for my requirements of a potential 800rwhp in the future. Currently just going to go to around 650 with boost

Personally, I would go with just a shortblock and get a different set of heads. The GM cnc LS3 heads really arent that special when you can get others for around the same price.

It may be me but 388 cfm customs port work and heads cost me around $1500 try that. The factory has what you want aftermarket sells 1 better but @ a cost my factory head will F*%k over any as cast CNC after market head cheaper. People think that money makes U faster.

I'm willing to try a cost Vs power contest. Me taking my heads off is nothing I'll pay shipping cost.

I have a 98 ss with a h/c a lq4 that Kyle built in 2011. I bought the car from the guy who Kyle built it for and he gave me the $7,500 purchase order from Thompson Motorsports. They also put in a ls7 clutch and flywheel. The engine made 480hp before a few small mods/adjustments.I drive the car almost daily, even during the summers down here in Houston. Granted,I never beat on the car or abuse it but I will time to time open her up.

Everything still runs perfectly. 4 yrs later and the car starts right up, never a rough Idle or anything. Never dies or surges and it has a HUGE cam.

I never met Kyle or the guys at Thompson but they oviously build a great priduct

If you don't mind my asking what HCI are you running? It made 480 hp at the wheel?
