Default Cam Sensor hitting reluctor wheel on cam gear on LS2?

Ran into a weird issue and wanted to see if anyone had seen a similar issue. Have an LS2 that had a deep groove worn into the cam sensor by the factory reluctor wheel on the cam gear.

The cam sensor was replaced in when the motor was rebuilt recently (and the original cam sensor was discovered to be worn). New cam sensor now has the same issue as the original deep groove in the sensor.

Trying to determine what is out of spec. Just wanted to see if anyone had seen a similar issue before.
