BTR valve stem seals - very light valve contact?
I just installed my BTR stem seals and was a little surprised by the lack of friction/contact on the valve compared to the stock stem seal I just removed. For example, 50% of the valves slide out under gravity and only get caught by the grove for the keepers. The stock seals squeeze much tighter and the valves don't come off the seat unless you push them out. Is this normal? Little concerned oil will pass right by these seals...I don't want to have a smoker motor.
This is the kit I used...

Properly pressed on per BTR instructions...no hammers.

Maybe there is a problem with the seals he sent; call him. I used the FEL-PRO Part # SS70945 and have no problems. For $20, I'd get a set of Fel-pro because I hate doing things twice. Autozone, has them and most other auto part stores. The Fel-pro seals are from a 2000 Chevrolet SILVERADO 1500 5.3L.

I ended up using the felpro seals mentioned above (thanks Jontall). They definately have more friction than the BTR's but less than the OEM's.
I did use motor oil for assy. and I'm sure that does make valve slide on the seal a lot more.
