4.8 cam and springs questions!
Hello all!
I have a 2009 silvy with a 4.8. Already has LT's, and full exhaust, CAI, and a handheld! I'm in the process of looking for a cam that is going to increase power and torque quite a bit while still being a streetable daily. I've been eyeing the LS1 hot cam kit from GMPP. Anyone tried these kits out with any luck? Is it a straight drop in cam? Does anyone know if the 4.8 has a one bolt or three bolt core? If not that kit i can build my own kit from different vendors for a price close to what those cost so any suggestions? Also are hardened pushrods a necessity on a cam swap or just a peace of mind thing? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Cam Motion has some nice grinds that are designed for what you are looking for.
The Hot Cam would be just about last on my list of things to consider for a 4.8 in a truck.

Your '09 engine would be a one bolt cam. You could go with a 3 bolt cam and sprocket or have a one bolt cam ground to your specifications. I converted my 5.3L from a one bolt to 3 bolt so I could lose DOD. I now run the Comp 212/218 cam which I really like so far.
If you don't go too wild on the cam you can simply upgrade your springs to LS6 springs and be good. Other things to consider while your in there might be new lifters, timing chain damper (LS1 style) over your present tensioner. Maybe some headers instead of slapping those rusty exhaust manifolds back on. It never ends.
