Default PRC 227 vs. TFS 225 or AFR 230 v2

Anyone can attest to the power of the PRC 227 heads from Texas Speed. How much power would I be leaving behind if I put those heads on my Ls2 instead of the TFS 225. (Mods...G6x3 cam, Fast 102, OBX 1. 7/8 headers, C7 timing chain.)...

Power is a wash between those heads. Even stepping up to the 237 or 235 doesn't give you much.

I would say that is true on his stock displacement LS2, but on an engine with more demands for flow, I think you will find the larger heads (235, 245 or square port) will show their capability.

I tried prc and tfs and I would recommend getting as cast tfs 220cc with Brian Tooleys touches and also send him your fast 102mm for port matching.. the heads and intake with his work is very affordable.

With that being said, the PRC are still great heads and is going to be within 10hp of the BTR TFS 220 or the TEA TFS 225. I never tried AFR.

TFS 225s hands down. Do some research and you will see. TFS 225s/G6X3/Fast 102 is the ultimate NA combo for the stock cubed LS2, imo

We just had 2 LS2 setups using the TFS As Cast 220 "LS2" heads from us and our port matched Fast 102 make over 500 rwhp.

Id go in the order of PRC 237, then some Mamofied 230's then the trickflows. the PRC's also have the benefit of not having to be modified to run a stock rocker arm.
Sorry but I'm not a big believer in flow numbers=better performance. You don't see PRC's or AFR's out performing TFS heads. Just look at what all the big HP NA builds have.

Hey Brian.....
what is the turn around time for a ported Fast 102. Also, what kind of gains should one expect?

Brian, would you mind giving me a pm on what that setup would run. This fall/winter my GTO will be undergoing surgery lol..

Can you share the cam specs with these two set-ups?

Hey Brain, this is Mahdi and I am glad you chimed in! The 500whp was on a Automatic 6L80E, 107 IAT Temp and 91 octane I am sure we can make 520whp on a 6 speed manual. Thanks again for the awesome work!

I personally would go with the PRC 227's or if you're on a budget, the PRC 225 AsCast heads on a stock LS2 bottom end vs the 237's etc due to the compression difference. The added compression from the 227's will out perform the 237's. Even though they have higher flow numbers they will be down on power due to the compression drop with their 68cc chambers and valve shrouding on a 4" bore. I have a hard time buying an expensive head to only have to have someone else touch them up to get the power that you want. You can do that with any head if you wish. I prefer a head that's ready to go out of the box.

The prc 227 performs great, but the tfs 220 with BTR touches cost less. I didn't try the prc 225 but we are dynoing one with ls1 sbe and msd intake and a cam motion cam so ill let u know how it performs.
