Default Brand new 427 build, dart ls next block, brodix heads, holly direct port, come on in

Whats up fellas, as some of you may remember my previous thread, i was building a high compression 427 using a sleeved LS3 block(thread below)

https://ls1tech.com/forums/generatio...last-page.html

we put that motor on the dyno and spun the hydro roller cam to about 7800 rpm and made about 780 hp on the engine dyno and got a lot of flex. I decided to scrap the build and start over using a DART LS NEXT block which is obviously much much stronger and can take a **** tone of nitrous compared to the sleeved LS3 block i was using. We also had minor valve float on the engine dyno which was another reason we decided to switch up the build and go solid roller.

Heres the new build and the progress we've made:

parts:

DART LS NEXT BLOCK
SCAT FORGED 4.00 CRANK
CP CUSTOM MAX DOME PISTONS WITH GAS PORTS AND COATING 4.125 BORE
CALLIES ULTRA H BEAM RODS 6.125
BRODIX BR7 HEADS
CROWER SHAFT MOUNT ROCKERS 1.8 RATIO
CUSTOM BULLET CAM 277/290 768/756 113+4 LSA SOLID ROLLER CAM
HOLLY HIGH RISE WITH DIRECT PORT
ARP EVERYTHING
ROLLMASTER BILLET TIMING CHAIN

SHORT BLOCK IS ASSEMBLED AND READY TO GO, HEADS ARE FINISHING UP NOW HAVING THE ROCKERS INSTALLED ENGINE DYNO SOON. ENJOY BROS

With the solid roller are you going to push past 8000rpms? What are the static and dynamic compression(s) of this monster? And, why the high-ram over a mamofied MSD?

Gotta love a good, strong, rigid block. How much lash on the camshaft?

Yes, another Solid Roller build! Keep the updates coming. Good luck with the rest of the build.

14.5:1 compression. The MSD isnt that much better than the FAST 102 IMO. The holley, from what ive seen performs better at higher RPM's

Ur build seems to be top notch but why a cheaper crank than better quality out there?

a stock gm crank can handle well over 1k hp as proven by numerous tests. I think at some point you're just paying for a name with a lot of these companies. We have run scat forged cranks in a lot of the builds we do and never had an issue. IMO the crank is the last thing to go. SCAT rates its 4340 forged cranks to 1500 hp

14.5:1 compression! I love it.

I do like the look of the Holley High-Ram, and agree that the single plane intake should excel in the higher rpms, over a long runner intake like the MSD and FAST.

Any updates on this?

And do the gas ports in those pistons allow you to use thinner rings?

Subscribed, similar build with slightly more compression and CID heads in the planning stages. Which oil pan...Stefs, Canton, Moroso w/rails?....custom?

I was reading the link you provided in your first post, and curious what happened with
the other block, there was some difference of opinions and curious if you had issues with
the gap between sleeves, is that the reason you swapped to a different block?
I would have a hard time scrapping a engine build that was making those numbers unless there was a serious problem.

Default Ignition Coils IGN-1A

I would like to know if you have fitted my IGN-1A ignition coil, the one specified for the PRO-Stock NHRA requirement ?

You seem the top quality items in your build.

I may be of help with plug gap, dwell, .etc.

the motor made a **** ton of power on the engine dyno. seeing as how this set up is a nitrous buld, hitting that stock block (even though it was sleeved) with another 200-250 of spray would have probably cracked the block.

part of the reason i switched the block was also because i did end up switching to a solid roller set up and an even bigger cam then before. since i should be making even more power than before it only made sense to upgrade to the dart block since the ls3 block was turning out to be the weakest link of the build. got a pretty good deal on the dart and it only made sense to pull the trigger on it to have as much as a bulletproof block and not have to worry when i spray nitrous now

also the only thing that was really "scrapped was the block which i ended up selling and recouping money and the cam/valve train since i switched from hydro to solid. everything else was reused. heads, crank, rods, intake etc...
