Default Valve relief location

Does the valve relief on these piston go upwards or down.

I would assume the laser etched serial number would be faced upright, but I believe the valve relief should be closer to the valley plate rather than the headers.

Any opinions?

Pic 1 or 2... which is correct

Why do you think they would have put the sketched number so it would be upside down rather than right side up?

I have no idea. I just know that the engine won't care about the etching, just where those reliefs are.
